The Hot Art Of A Wet City

   Curator and event organizer extraordinaire, Chris Bentzen, has carved out a nice little niche market in the Vancouver arts community.  For over a decade he has been bringing artists and the community together with a myriad of long standing shows such as, Hot One Inch Action, Carded! (An annual trading card show featuring the works of 100+ artists), workshops, comedy shows and more!

Voted second best gallery in Vancouver for Westender Best of The City 2015, Hot Art Wet City began as a pop up gallery in 2012, featuring fun, weird and accessible art. Later on they would play host of various openings and featuring artist interviews. They opened permanently at 2206 Main Street in Vancouver in April 2013.

Twelve years ago, Hot One Inch Action was born, created by  Jim Hoehnle and Chris Bentzen, it is the original, one-night only show of button art collecting, trading and social interaction. The art of fifty different artists is reproduced onto one inch buttons. The limited edition buttons are displayed on the gallery wall and the audience is offered the opportunity to buy randomly selected buttons in mixed bags of five for $5

In addition to their  annual Vancouver show, they have hosted the show in Seattle, Portland, Calgary, Reno and NYC. Hot One Inch Action has received artist submissions from Canada, USA, France, Spain, UK, Hong Kong and Turkey.
