The Art of Andrea HoodgeAndrea Hooge, is a Vancouver based artist living and working out of her home studio in East Vancouver. Over the years, she has been cultivating a signature style which is a nod to the nostalgia of vintage magazines and old children's books. Her main focus has been creating figurative oil paintings on wood or hardboard panel. Until, she mastered the art of the scratch board, where she carefully hand scratches extremely detailed imagery onto custom cut out scratch boards, enabling her to move a way from conventional shapes and sizes. Each piece is carefully and precisely scratched out with focus and intent. Andrea attended the University of the Fraser Valley, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Psychology and a minor in visual arts.
Her work has been exhibited in various group shows in Vancouver, and she has had three solo exhibitions, titled "Dolly," "Scratch," and "Menno Kitty" all at Hot Art Wet City. She will be exhibiting a new solo show at Hot Art Wet City in April 2016. Visit: www.andreahooge.com/ for more details.
