There's No Place Like RoamEver since Roam Gallery founder Jennifer Angers Daerendinger opened the doors to her community gallery 2 years ago, she hasn't looked back. What started as a pop up store, has quickly grown into it's home at City Square Mall on 12th ave. The little gallery has played host to a myriad of group shows, continuously serving up some of Vancouver's newest and brightest talent. Jennifer is not just a patron of the arts, she is a huge supporter of them, she realized that the Vancouver arts community needs to be supportive of one another, and with that her main focus and motivation for establishing this gallery is, building a community. And judging by the turn out from last weeks opening, she is right on track. She is fortunate to be surrounded by a team of people, who share in her vision and have helped with everything, from renovations to hanging the art. Jennifer has stated "You cant' do something like this on your own, you need help, you need a team." Each month the rotation of artists changes, and Roam hosts an opening reception, where friends, family and collectors are invited to come and meet the artists and view the new work. The artists pay an nominal fee to have there art showcased and Daerendinger, takes only a fraction of what the average gallery would. Some of Jennifer's future plans for the new gallery include, turning the extra rooms into studio space, where artists can come and create on site, making it an ideal setting for someone who is new to the art industry and is taking the plunge to set out to into the art scene in a supportive atmosphere.
