     Montreal artist Sandra Chevrier is turning heads in the art world with her empowering and original comic book inspired paintings. Using the elegance of the female figure, she combines street style art with a throw back to the classic 1950's pinup. 

Her work takes her traveling over a broad range of fluctuating emotional enigmas and concepts that have set the standard of our modern communication. Sandra uses collage or loose and heavy textures of paint that make the woman seem to be emerging from the surreal world within the canvas. A dance between reality and imagination, truth and deception.

Her series "cages" is about women trying to find freedom from society's twisted preconceptions of what a woman should or shouldn't be. These women encased in these cages of brash imposing paint or comic books that masks their very person symbolizes the struggle that women go through with having these false expectations of beauty and perfection as well as the limitations society places on women, corrupting what truly is beautiful by placing women in these prisons of identity. By doing so, society is asking them to become superheroes.

The single mom is a full time artist who produces her art out of her home studio. Lately, Sandra has been finding huge success on a global scale. Her work has been shown in Canada, the United States, United Kingdom, Europe and Asia finding it's way into the hands of many an art collector all over the world.

Sandra has many projects on the go and has been spotted on more then one occasion with art collector and curator Kasseem "Swiss Beatz" Dean who has a handful of her original works in his collection.  Currently, she is gearing up for an upcoming show at the Jonathan Levine Gallery in New York city, opening  June 27th.
